Hello Rainbow Families!

A very warm welcome to our new and returning campers, staff and volunteers! 2010 promises to be another exciting summer at Rainbow – we are celebrating over 35 years of summer fun!!

While it may be cold and windy outside, here at Rainbow we are already hard at work planning for an extraordinary 2010 camp season.

We have a few exciting updates to share with you. First, Rainbow Day Camp was honoured to be chosen for an Access Recognition Award in November 2009. Rainbow’s commitment to providing high quality summer recreation to children of all ability levels along with working at breaking down barriers to accessibility was recognized. At Rainbow we have always believed that each and every child is unique and possesses gifts to be shared with their peers. We will continue to strive for excellence in providing our community members with unforgettable summer experiences.

This upcoming season we will be introducing a new staff position – Assistant Program Coordinator. This position will work closely with the Program Coordinator and our staff team to ensure programming remains diverse, accessible and meets the needs of children at every age level.

Rainbow Day Camp has also been fortunate to receive several funding supports over the past year. As a not-for-profit organization we endeavour to keep camp accessible to everyone, not make money. Therefore, we rely on fundraising, grants and charities such as the United Way to assist us in keeping camp fees low and to provide high quality staff for all children as well as those with special abilities. Thanks to those who have supported our fundraising efforts throughout the year.

Registered families can expect to receive the parent information pack during the month of June. Still have more questions? We are here to help make your child's summer unforgettable - don't hesitate to call us.

Thank you for choosing Rainbow Day camp!

Kim Rodrigues

Executive Director

High Five

RAINBOW is PROUD to be the FIRST in GUELPH and sixth in Ontario to achieve Accreditation status with HIGH FIVE®, a quality assurance program of Parks and Recreation Ontario designed to support the safety, well-being and healthy development of children in recreation and sport programs.

Our accreditation with HIGH FIVE®,is your assurance that we meet the high standards of care and healthy development for children within recreation.  All of our programs, staffing, procedures and policies are assessed and verified for quality.  Each summer we complete HIGH FIVE® program assessments to ensure we are meeting standards and look for areas of improvement.  This 2010 season we will undergo verification of our program.  Therefore, in addition to our regular assessments we will have an outside body review our policies and procedures, staff training and skill as well as assess our program for overall quality.  We are looking forward to highlighting our program during the verification process as we enjoy another great summer.

If you would like more information on HIGH FIVE®,, please visit their website at www.highfive.org or contact us at any time.
